How many times does it take us to turn a light on by flicking a switch on the wall? Well... once!
How does this happen so easily? Well it’s because the light switch is wired that way! It’s wired in such a way that when we flick that switch it causes the electrical current to flow to the light fitting to illuminate the room. Simple.
Did you know that as a born again believer we have the very same power that The Lord Jesus Christ has flowing through Him? We are wired that way... spiritually!
Romans 8:10-11 NKJV
“And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”
I say this to remind us that God has given us the authority to walk in and live a victorious life. One that is able to defeat illnesses, deceases, poverty and all the frailties that life brings. All we need to do is BELIEVE!
This reminds me of the story in Mark’s Gospel of the man whose son could not be healed by The Lords disciples...
Mark 9:14-29 NKJV
“And when He came to the disciples, He saw a great multitude around them, and scribes disputing with them. Immediately, when they saw Him, all the people were greatly amazed, and running to Him, greeted Him. And He asked the scribes, “What are you discussing with them?” Then one of the crowd answered and said, “Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit. And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not.” He answered him and said, “O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me.” Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth. So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it: “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!” Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, “He is dead.” But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?” So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.””
“I believe... help my unbelief” wow! Isn’t that just us all today? You see, Jesus so wanted His disciples to believe with expectation and not just hope! He wants the very same thing for us today! He has given us, all who believe on His name, the very same authority that He Himself has. The authority to heal the sick and to cast out demons.
Mark 3:14-15 NKJV
“Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons:”
If this is the case why do we not see more miracles today I hear you ask? Well, the simple answer to that is that we need to continue to ask what this scribe asked Jesus himself. “I believe...help my UNBELIEF!” Its that unbelief that the enemy continues to play on our minds that prevents us in walking in all that God has for us. That unbelief causes us to doubt what The Lord Himself has already declared to be true. It’s that unbelief that lingers in the corners of our minds that can be erased with these very simple words...
“Lord I believe... help my unbelief!”

Notice the meaning of His name is not The God who CAN or MIGHT heal but the God who HEALS! He HEALS and He wants us to appropriate that very same authority to heal ourselves and others too!
Call on His name today... if you believe but you’re struggling with unbelief you are not alone. Ask the God of all creation to help you with that unbelief and He will surely hear your cry and answer with the only way He knows how... He’ll answer with love!
