Are We Really?

I am sure that in these days of Covid we are all asking about our church life and what we should do?

Well, let me take you back to the beginning of the family of ABBA Father, specifically Acts Chapter One and Chapter Two. I am not cherry picking here; I am picking out the way of life these people had.

Acts Chapter One verse 14 says … “They all continued with one accord.” What is one accord?

Well, the online dictionary says - proper relationship or proportion, harmony. That’s awesome is it not? How often have you been in a place of 120 people, and they are all in one agreement and total harmony?

Acts Chapter One, Verse 15 states there where 120 people being in one place and being spoken to by Peter. As a side note and being into sound engineering, have you ever wondered how so many people could hear one speaker without the aid of the electronics we have today?

The feeding of the 5000, everyone heard. How do I know? Everyone ate.

120 people in a small hall would not have brilliant acoustics, so it always leaves me with the sense that the Holy Spirit was doing the amplification.

So here we have 120 people in one place, all in total agreement about all things spiritual, wow!!

Ever watched question time in parliament?-Hmmm!!

So, Peter was speaking to the crowd, looking for a replacement for Judas who had betrayed the Master. History records Matthias was chosen.

Moving into Acts 2 the first verse once again reiterates their spiritual and emotional state, all in one place in one accord - again all in full agreement. This in itself is a miracle!

The story in Acts Chapter Two verse 1 through to 47 tells us that the Ruach, or Holy Spirit fell upon each person in the house they were in, in one agreement, in one accord, in one harmony and in total sobriety.

I cannot put too finer point on this, each person in that house who was in one accord with all there, received the Spirit of ABBA Father. Verse 3 clearly says, the tongues of fire sat on each one of them. There were no exceptions!

So, after this wind and tongues of fire happened, the rest of Jerusalem heard something quite amazing, Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,

Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,

Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

They all heard the wonders of ABBA Father in their own languages - Simultaneously!!

Is this the first time a language miracle has occurred in the history of The Bible? No, it's not. Once there was a bunch of people who decided they wanted to get closer to God their way, so they started building a tower to reach him.

Genesis Chapter 11 verse One to Nine tells us that the triune being saw the sin being committed at Babel and they “ALL” went down and changed all their languages in the blink of an eye and scattered them all over the world. That put a stop to that! Imagine a builder asking the apprentice stonemason for a hammer and getting a salad sandwich instead?

So, when Jerusalem heard the amazing word of God in their own languages, instead of being overjoyed at the miracle of language and the miracle of life everlasting in Jesus they accused everyone of being hammered on wine.

As it was 9am in the morning this was very doubtful in the culture of the day. Today? Well, who knows?

Now here’s my query, my question, my statement, my sadness, my disappointment in the world, my disappointment in myself as well…

If then,120 believers in the Most Wonderful and Almighty God, the one who loves so deeply that we cannot hope to understand it in our current form, can come together in one house, all agree without malice, then receive the holy spirit in such a way that it could do nothing but shatter your preconceived ideas of who God really is, speak in a multitude of new languages, spreading the word of God to everyone in Jerusalem without exception and in one day, from 9am until close of business that same day (Acts Chapter 2 Verse 41) added 3000 people to their fellowship, not just hearing the word and believing but entering into baptism as well!

I am going to stick my neck out here and say that this occurrence is, so far, the first and only one of its type in its entirety of human existence, let us all pray for very regular repeat performances.

Come on Man and Woman of God let us have one accord together and see our 3000…
